Cotswolds Leisurely Bimble

This is our first outing since the COVID-19 lockdown and boy was it nice to get out on the bikes ? Just a leisurely bimble through the Cotswolds.

Firstly starting in Redditch (or Studley) make your way towards Stratford-upon-Avon along the A435 and A46. Turn right off the A46 and go through Binton village because it is a nicer ride. Now you need to take the A3400 the other side of Stratford but you can take a detour through the town. Take the Clopton Bridge over the river if you have never seen Stratford, it’s a lovely town.

Follow the A3400 through Alderminster and Newbold on Stour. Enjoy this road, it has some fast sweeping corners but be careful. After Newbold on Stour pick up the A429 towards Moreton-in-Marsh. Follow the A429 through Moreton-in-Marsh onto Stow-on-the-Wold and again onto Bourton-on-the-Water. All these are typical quaint Cotswolds villages because of the buildings and the dry stone walls. Make a stop and enjoy a coffee and a cake ?

Take the A436 out of Bourton-on-the-Water heading towards Andoversford and Cheltenham. About half way to Andoversford take a right onto the B4068 signposted Naunton. Just follow the B4068 as it loops back to Stow-on-the-Wold.

Once back at Stow-on-the-Wold just retrace your route along the A429 through Moreton-in-Marsh and continue on the A429. Just after Rowborough take a right onto the B4035 to Shipston-on-Stour. Take the A3400 out of Shipston-on-Stour towards Burmington. Just follow the A3400 for as long as you like. You could even pick up the A44 (in either direction) if you wanted to extend the trip further. We decided to turn around at the roundabout just outside of Chipping Norton.

Follow the A3400 back the way you came, all the way back through Shipston-on-Stour, Newbold on Stour, Alderminster and back to Stratford-upon-Avon. Follow the reverse of the route back to Redditch (or Studley) to complete the trip.

Download the KMZ file below. Feel free to use the route as a base and adjust accordingly or follow the route exactly, up to you ?
